Jvc Ha-l50-B Lightweight Headphone review

price paid £5 @ local sainsburys (marked half price)
Having tried a fair few headphones over the years I quite enjoy messing around with new ones, even if they are a lot cheaper than my current pair (Grado sr-60's). I was just browsing in my local supermarket (sainsburys) when I noticed these JVC headphones at half price. I thought they would be handy for my minidisk (or MP3 player if i ever get one).
Advertised specs
Frequency Response : 18hz - 22.000hz
Nominal Impedance : 32ohms
Sensitivity : 104dB
Cord length : 1.5M (Usable cord length is actually : 1.35M)
Mass : 46g
Unpacking the headphones they are already in the "closed" state, the cable is just long enough to reach my USB soundcard, which is not very far away it would be perfect for use with a minidisk /mp3 player as a long cable just gets in the way.
I find the headphones to be very uncomfortable when wearing them, the plastic "headband" doesn't seem to bend very much either so it is difficult to get them into a comfortable position, they never feel secure and like they are slipping off my ears, the headband plastic seems considerably cheaper than the stuff the actual headphones are connected to, which is a shame because it ruins the Sleek black image.
Sound quality is pretty clear, music sounds ok at high volumes but bass is nowhere to be found, anything with considerable amounts of bass just seems bland and muffled compared to full size headphones.
For the price im quite impressed, I can pack these headphones away and they are reasonably quiet at decent volumes so it doesn't disturb others.
if the headband was a bit more comfortable and there was a bit more bass i would have given them a higher score.
Sound quality : 7/10
Build quality : 5/10
Value for money : 8/10
Comfort : 4/10
Style : 7/10
