I’ve finally joined the despised ranks of the fashion-victim, style-before-content, apple-worshiping fanboy sheeple – by which I mean my friends! I’ve caved in to the inevitable and bought an iPod. To be precise, the Apple iPod Touch 8GB edition.
The reason I haven’t bought an iPod before now is that for 5 years I’ve always had a phone that can play MP3s, and an old minidisk player for excercising with, so I never saw the need for a dedicated device. All that changed recently though. My Sony Ericsson P990i phone died after just six months, leaving me without a portable MP3 playback device, but more importantly leaving me without anything to read ebooks on!
Enter the iPod Touch. The first time I saw its nice big touchscreen I thought ‘ebook reader’, and when I saw it had wifi, web browsing, email and various other toys I immediately lusted after one. The death of my smartphone was just the excuse I needed!
I opted for the 8GB version, the smallest Apple make. This is mainly down to cost – I can’t afford the 32GB version – but I also can’t justify a larger one since I don’t have a huge number of MP3s. I bought the iPod from amazon.co.uk for £179.99, with free delivery.
